Kira Burton
Founder & Executive Director
“It is never the title. It will always be the work I put in. When everyone turned their back on me, God showed up. Built me in quiet seasons, when there was very little applause.”
My name is Kira Burton, and I am the Founder and Executive Director of Every Mother’s Dream Inc. I was born in the Commonwealth of Dominica and migrated to the United States at the age of 11. When I first arrived, I was young, hopeful, and unaware of the challenges that would later shape my journey. Over time, I learned that the American Dream is not simply given, it is built through faith, sacrifice, and perseverance.
I became a mother at 23 while attending college. At the time, I was studying culinary arts with dreams of becoming a chef, but that career path required long hours away from my son. I made the difficult decision to change direction so I could be present for him. After a brief pause, I continued my education while working full-time, often choosing jobs that aligned with his school schedule. I did not secure my first true career position until 2021, when my son was nine years old.
Those years taught me patience, humility, and endurance. Adulthood showed me what real struggle feels like. I cried and I sacrificed. I know what it means to not have and to suffer quietly while the world never knows. There were nights when my prayers were whispered through tears, tears my child would never see, asking God if He still saw me, as I fought silent battles and still showed up each day determined to build a better future for my son.
As a single mother, I also learned how isolating life can feel when there is no safe space to speak without judgment. Too often, society asks questions and makes assumptions without understanding the full story. I learned to carry my pain silently, realizing that explaining your truth does not always guarantee compassion. That absence of grace, the lack of understanding and compassion stayed with me and became part of the reason this mission matters so deeply.
In 2020, during the pandemic, God placed a vision on my heart to create a space where mothers could be supported even while they were still figuring life out. Fear and circumstances caused me to wait. In 2025, that same vision returned, stronger and clearer. I understood then that a dream does not come back unless it is tied to purpose. This was not just an idea; it was an assignment.
I am not leading this work from a place of having everything figured out. I lead from lived experience. I have walked through the very seasons this organization exists to support, and I understand the fear, exhaustion, and quiet resilience it takes to keep going when resources are limited and support feels distant. I lead this organization with compassion, accountability, and structure, ensuring that every decision, partnership, and resource is aligned with the mission and the families we serve. This work is carried out with integrity, transparency, and deep respect for the lives entrusted to it. My goal is to build an organization that families, partners, and communities can trust not just today, but for generations to come.
Today, I balance full-time work while pursuing my master’s degree, all while raising a teenager with a full academic and sports schedule. The juggle is real and requires constant adjustment, grace, and faith. I am building this organization while I am still becoming, because I believe mothers deserve support in the middle of their journey, not only once everything looks perfect on the outside.
I am here for the mother who is doing everything she can, holding it together on the outside while quietly praying for relief, direction, and support on the inside. If that mother is you, know that you are seen here, supported here, and you do not have to carry this season alone.
Every Mother’s Dream Inc. is not just about meeting immediate needs, it exists to restore dignity, rebuild stability, and create pathways for families to thrive long-term. By interrupting cycles of struggle and replacing them with opportunity, faith, and support, we strengthen mothers, stabilize households, and help transform generations. I am building what my son, and future generations will one day stand on, so the battles I fought will not be theirs. This is the work I was prepared for through every season I survived.
This is Every Mother’s Dream, and it’s just the beginning.
Empowering Families. Changing Generations.
